Freelance Fee Calculator
Find out how much of a payment you really keep after platform and withdrawal fees, or how much to charge to take home a specific amount.
See what you keep from a Freelancer.com project after the 10% fee or $5 minimum, or find the bid that earns you the amount you want.
You take home
$80.00
| Client pays | $100.00 |
| Platform fee (20%) | −$20.00 |
| Withdrawal and conversion fees | −$0.00 |
| You receive | $80.00 |

You keep 80% of the price. Fees change, so check your platform's current rates.
On fixed-price projects, Freelancer.com charges freelancers 10% of the project value or $5, whichever is higher. When you work in US dollars, the calculator applies the $5 minimum automatically.
The minimum makes a big difference on small projects:
| Project value | Fee | You earn | Share you keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| $20 | $5 (minimum) | $15 | 75% |
| $30 | $5 (minimum) | $25 | 83% |
| $50 | $5 | $45 | 90% |
| $100 | $10 | $90 | 90% |
| $500 | $50 | $450 | 90% |
So a $20 project costs you a quarter of the money in fees. If you can, bid on projects of $50 or more, or bundle small tasks together.
The free plan includes 6 bids a month, and paid memberships add more. With so few free bids, apply only to projects that match your skills exactly, and write each proposal for that client. Our guide to writing proposals that get replies shows how, and the free proposal generator gives you a starting point.
The withdrawal methods and their fees depend on your country, so check the options in your account before you accept a project. If you're in Nepal, read how to receive freelance payments in Nepal.
Because the $5 minimum fee is higher than 10% of $20. Below $50, the minimum applies, and you keep a smaller share of the money.
Choose What to charge in the calculator and enter 45. At a 10% fee, you need to bid $50.
Freelancer.com's paid memberships mainly add bids and features. Check the current fee page on Freelancer.com before you choose a plan.
